GENERAL
1. Background and objectives
The State Committee for Scientific Research organises the Conference "Inauguration of the 6th Framework Programme of the European Union. The Conference will take place on 25-26. November 2002 in Warsaw.
It is addressed to researchers, scientists and business
representatives from Poland, Candidate Countries and other Central and
Eastern European States.
The President of Republic of Poland, Mr Aleksander Kwasniewski, has
taken the Honorary Patronage of the event. Moreover, the EU
Commissioner, Mr Philippe Busquin, has kindly agreed to participate in
this conference.
The senior ministry officials from Poland, Central and Eastern Europe,
Member States will take part.
The Conference aims to promote the 6th Framework Programme, present the rules for participation as well as to provide details concering the thematic priorities.
The Conference will be the forum for summarising the 5th Framework Programme, presentation of the best Polish research institutions and working groups awarded "Cristal Brussels Prize" as well as for the exhibition promoting successful FP5 projects.
The Conference will be held in English.

Centrum Hotelowo-Kongresowe - Hotel GROMADA, 17 Stycznia 32 Str., Warsaw - is situated in a quiet area less than 1 km from the Frederick Chopin International Airport, with convenient access to the city centre.
